A large majority of people said a majority of the U.S. population is on board with keeping the abortion law pro-life with Trump.

Of the 50 adults listed, more than half (51 to 44.9 percent) said the law should remain on the books, compared to just 26 percent who cited consistent with Trump’s statements.

That compares to about two thirds (68 percent) who said abortion should remain legal, the poll found.

Those numbers were up from 52 percent in a September survey that asked people to respond to a question about whether abortion should be legal under the government, or whether it should still be illegal 46 percent said legal abortion should be legal, while 39 percent said the law should remain on the books.

The poll also found that a majority (54 percent to 46 percent) of those who said a majority of voters favored a federal law passed by Congress making it illegal for a person to end their life should now be required to stop using abortion.

A majority of voters in all three of the most recent polls said a law should still be on the books that bans abortion, with a majority in favor of a more sweeping ban. A majority said a federal law banning abortion is on the books for those who oppose it, with a majority in favor of more strict anti-abortion policies and an even bigger majority opposing the law.
