In the past two years the country has been rocked by deadly protests over the deaths of more than 100 protesters near the US consulate in Benghazi on 9 November.
The unrest began a week before the US began airstrikes that killed US Ambassador Chris Stevens and two other Americans on 21 September.
Two days later on 22 September, a suicide car bomber targeted the US consulate and a US Marine vessel in Benghazi.
Four people have been killed and a third has been injured. There have been at least five attacks in Libya since 2010 with the worst in the past year.
A spokesman for British counter-terrorism chief Sir Andrew Parker described the new protests as unconscionable.
It has reached a dangerous point, Mr Parker told Sky News.
There is no justification for any acts of violent intimidation … the idea of using the threat of terrorism as an excuse has been out of proportion and now it is beginning to change.
Tripadvisor, a site designed to help people in poor neighborhoods, says the country is in the grips of a major security crisis, with a further three months of unrest expected on Friday.

The BBC’s Jim Prentice in Tripoli, west of Benghazi, was at the US consulate when an explosion ripped through a front gate and a man threw a tarp over the car and killed an other witness.
