Yeah, I’ve been doing some research online, and for some reason I was asked to go on the trip. When I asked if I didn’t have any photographic training, I looked up photography and thought No, this is too expensive for me, let’s just get into it. This is a documentary about a small community of photographers in rural Georgia that was founded to help people make money and get into the photography industry. There are many other photography projects out there. But I’ve spent a couple months learning more stuff from all of these people. It just helped me understand why photographers are passionate about their field and why photography does it so well. All the other major fields like journalism, the web, the film, they’re all great sources of inspiration to me. In fact, all of them, especially newsmusic, they’re all really important, they help me understand what it takes to be in a photography field.
How do you see those things changing in other major fields when you go to these big festivals and conferences
They’re changing. What is surprising, and really cool about the Internet, is that it has come into this world that photography can be everywhere, and it’s been very fun to be involved in. It’s been very good to have a bunch of photographers around and the community, and to learn from them, and to have something to share with anybody else. I think that there’s a change going on, in terms of how far things are now from what we were. I think I’ve seen all this progress and I believe there’s going to be a lot more to be done.
How would you describe your future in photography
I’ve been working really hard to be a photography guy for about a year now. There’s always been this stigma that I shouldn’t look at anything and try and be like I’m too good for photography. This is a challenge now that I’ll have a place to live and my home will soon be in a location where I can live with others. I need to be there and have other people who are like that. It took me a while to settle down and I’ve just got to get my life back together. As a photographer, how do you go about making things happen and keeping things going I’m a very creative guy. I really like to do my job with a high level of professionalism. I try to do the best I can.
