A few years ago, a woman in Ohio sent a message over the Facebook page of a man named Josh Daugherty. The I’m a Muslim tweet is the most viral and iconic of any of these tweets from his campaign to convince people to vote for Hillary Clinton. The message is from one of his followers asking that if he were to pick another person as his running mate, she pick Hillary Clinton because of her Muslim background. That is a terrible message.
I think you’d be doing well to understand that someone who had to decide her own religion was the most dangerous person to vote for. The fact that his message was taken down by a Facebook user is just mind-boggling. There was a massive outcry about his racist and hateful messaging, particularly when people found out he was using Facebook. That makes sense.
The message goes something like this, and the first question my daughter asked me, Why would you want to vote for Hillary Clinton if you were an American person The answer because you’re a Muslim Why did I want to be the first person in American history to ever vote for somebody because of their Muslim background I have no idea why. In fact, it is not any easier, given the recent surge in Islamization in the United States. So what I do know is that I’ve actually spent more of my adult life working as a Muslim, working the hardest, doing the hardest, being a Muslim. It’s what I’m doing well because of my Muslim background. And that’s where my work ethic comes in, because Muslims are being forced to do other things to make themselves look good. So I can honestly say that I’m proud of what I do.
That said, it’s still a very small part of my personal life, and sometimes you get the feeling that it’s not my job to tell people I belong in society that I’re going to have a hard time doing my job because my religious background is important to me.
