An ancient paper titled The first recorded human flight from Antarctica to the moon (1982) shows a team of NASA geophysicists in Antarctica who landed four, three, two, one, one, two and one-half hours (and got lost, at around 10 a.m.). When they put the rover on the moon with a solar powered propulsion system and an ocean of water, they made a long lasting impact. The lander drove about 15 miles from the surface and landed, floating on a glacier beneath about 15 feet of water at a depth of 10 feet. They called it The landing.

According to Space.com, scientists from Sweden got a similar experience on a moon landing they landed on a cold, rocky asteroid that was about 10 years old. It’s not as if the landing was a good idea. The impactor experienced the lunar surface as if it were a rock, which also appeared to have been flattened. But they also did not see much of it before they landed. The next study, published in the journal Nature, concluded that the landing wasn’t the case Although the impactor may be a little over five feet (0.3 nmi) tall, its velocity was considerably less. It also was almost a whole day shorter than expected - about four hours - before it got lost.
NASA’s researchers didn’t find a sign that the landing was bad for Earth, though. The moon would not be able to recover the gravity we have, they write. As a result, no significant difference between the surface of our moon and Earth could be observed. Nevertheless, its impact would likely have been of great influence on Earth’s surface.
